A van heading to a child care center was hit by a car whose driver didn’t stop at a red light Wednesday morning, police said. The accident occurred near the intersection of 11th Street and Franklin Avenue as the van was on its way to Talitha Koum Institute.
The van’s driver struck her head on the vehicle in the crash, the center’s executive director said, but none of the children was injured. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The executive director said new safety seats were installed in the van last week.

The Austin Police Department is investigating a fatal accident that recently took place in North Austin. According to reports, the accident took place early Thursday morning around 1:40 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle was heading northbound on Interstate 35 and was travelling at a high rate of speed. The driver then lost control of the vehicle and crashed. The car then rolled over several times. The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle at the time of the accident and was killed from the injuries sustained while rolling.
Speed was likely a factor in the accident, and officers are investigating to determine if alcohol was a factor in the accident.

A deadly two car accident recently claimed the life of a longtime Baylor University professor. The man that died was a professor with the School of Education for 42 years.
The accident took place near Oglesby. Another individual in the accident who was driving the other car is currently in critical condition. One other passenger was in that car their injuries has stabilized.
Initial reports indicate that the accident when the professor lost control of his vehicle and went off road. The man then overcorrected too much, and drove the car into the other lane of traffic causing the collision.

A crash occurred early Thursday morning in Falls County. A driver headed westbound on Highway 7 near Marlin fell asleep and left the road, rolling the vehicle.
Of the five people in the car, three of them aged 7 months, 2 and 17 were killed in the collision. The other two, aged 18 and 2 were injured and taken to the hospital and were released.
