Teen driver speeding causes accidents

Two recent studies on teen drivers show speeding as a major cause of accidents involving teens. In one of the studies, more than 2,000 teenage drivers were surveyed on their driving habits. 68 percent of these teens said that they had narrowly avoided being in a car accident.
Within these teens, 30 percent said that they were speeding when the accident almost occurred. 41 percent said they were distracted by texting or talking to passengers in their vehicle when the accident almost occurred. More than half of the teen drivers said that any changes in driving habits after a near-accident only lasted for a couple months after the incident.
In a separate study on accidents involving teens, 21 percent of accidents caused by teens were found to have been caused by speeding.
