Mother sues bar for serving driver

A mother recently filed suit in the Galveston County District Court against a Houston bar for continuing to serve her son alcoholic beverages despite already being intoxicated.

Her son, Guillermo Ayala Jr., was at Sherlock’s Baker Street Pub in Houston on April 6, 2009 with his wife.  The suit accuses the bar and its staff of continuing to serve Ayala drinks even though he already exhibited being intoxicated.  After leaving the bar, Ayala was in a single-vehicle car accident.

Ayala’s car caught fire in the accident and he suffered burns and other injuries.  He passed away two days later at the hospital.  His mother is suing for medical and funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and mental anguish.
