Super Bowl Sunday this weekend

On Sunday, the New England Patriots will face the New York Giants at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. This is the second time in four years that these teams have played one another at the Super Bowl. In 2008, the Giants defeated the Patriots destroying their 18-0 record for that season.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick will be making their fifth Super Bowl appearance together in 11 seasons. The Patriots record this season is 15-3. They have won 10 consecutive games. The Giants have a record of 12-7, and recently defeated top-seeded Green Bay Packers and second seeded San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship.

Truck accident on Valley Mills Drive traps driver

A car driving southbound on Valley Mills Drive in Waco was hit by an 18-wheeler truck trapping the driver of the passenger inside the vehicle.
According to police, at 2:15pm on Thursday, the 18-wheeler truck collided into the driver’s side of the Dodge passenger car when it attempted to make a turn from Valley Mills Drive onto Waco Drive. The driver of the car had to be removed from the vehicle using the jaws of life. The man was rushed to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center.
The driver of the truck and the passenger of the car both did not suffer any injuries. Details on the driver’s condition were not released.

Cultural Foods and Dances Night in Waco this weekend

The Cultural Foods and Dances Night will bring food from chefs of Texas State Technical College’s culinary department. Middle Eastern cuisine will be featured, and dance styles such as Turkish, Czech, Russian, Japanese, and Ethiopian will be performed.
Bosnian chef Rajka Jobe stated, “I want to expose them to different things by having them try new foods.”

Two Riesel women died in car crash Saturday morning

Callie Tullos, 23, and Ashleigh Dodd, 24, of Riesel, died on early Saturday morning when Tullos lost control of her vehicle on Surrey Ridge Lane and hit a tree.
At approximately 1:30am Saturday, Tullos was driving with passenger Ashleigh Dodd, 24, also from Riesel, on Surrey Ridge Lane just past the intersection of Buckskin Lane when she veered off the road after losing control of the vehicle and hit a tree. Tullos was a senior at Baylor University and a graduate of Riesel High School in 2007. Dodd’s birthday was Saturday, and she graduated from Riesel High School in 2006.
The incident is still under investigation. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the victims’ families.
